Grow a Garden Game Play Method
At the start, an individual garden area of 8 squares is created. The player is given 20¢ (shekels), and can click on the garden soil to plant seeds. However, the number of seeds that can be planted is limited. A circular pattern appears and disappears on the planted space; when you hover the mouse cursor or click on the planted spot[on PC] or tap [on mobile], you can check the growth status and name of the plant. At the top, the ‘GARDEN’ button teleports you to your garden, ‘SEEDS’ to the seed shop, and ‘SELL’ to the crop marketplace instantly.
Now, you can expand the left and right territories for 500 million each (2.5 billion each side), the back territory can be expanded for 750 million after one day (24 hours), and again later for 1 billion after three days (72 hours). After all upgrades, the left and right of the garden expand about half a block each, and the back expands by one and a half blocks.

Added during production updates, it is a feature that allows creating a single item using several crops, seeds, seed packs, eggs, shekels/honey, etc.

- Traveling Merchants appear next to the Seed Shop every 4 hours and sell various special items.

Others include badges for letters G, A, R, D, E, N and harvesting tomatoes over 7kg. Without sprinklers, these are nearly impossible to achieve; even with sprinklers, they are difficult.
Tips
- Discard carrots quickly.
- If server ping is high, buy seeds quickly and plant them in your garden. When “This Is Your Garden Now!” appears, the growth state of crops from the last accessed garden is loaded; planting before this will count growth as on the previous garden.
- Use the teleport buttons at the top as they save time compared to walking.
- To keep crops without selling, double-click or press and hold to favorite. Favorited crops cannot be sold or used in events.
- Bamboo acts like a ladder when touched, allowing climb to harvest taller crops.
- Rare chance to obtain seeds when harvesting crops.
- For buying expensive crops, build basic foundations and assets first for stable progress.
- Mutant crops fetch higher prices, especially if the base crop is expensive.
- Buy many wrenches sold in the Gear Shop.
- Updates allow crops to regrow once immediately after harvest.
- Moderators do not take responsibility for user fraud; be careful when trading with other players.
- Stealing others’ crops using 37 Robux is possible unless on private servers.
- The easiest money-making method is to plant expensive fruits like Candy Blossom with multiple sprinklers including master sprinklers, wait submerged in mutation effects. If no Candy Blossom, Moon Melon from moon events also benefits.
Popularity
Originally a normal tycoon game, player counts surged after the Easter update.
It surpassed even Dead Rails which peaked at tens of thousands simultaneous users.
After the Blood Moon update, the player count exploded: Roblox’s first to pass 5 million, 6 million … up to 11.7 million simultaneous players in June 2025 due to a crafting update, and on June 21, 2025 set a record of over 20 million simultaneous players with average concurrent users about 3.4 million, a historical record.
The developer promised to take a space trip if 10 million concurrent players are achieved.
Further peaks: July 12, 21.5 million, July 19, 21.8 million.
There were suspicions of bot usage to manipulate player counts, but majority opinion is that bots are unlikely due to risk of bans, and based on gameplay nature with long session times, the game is genuinely popular.
However, after acquisition by Do Big Studios, the game’s future is somewhat uncertain. This studio is known overseas for aggressive monetization and updates that may undermine the game identity, similar to ‘Fisch’. It is said Do Big Studios owns 25% of the game, so currently issues are limited.

As a peaceful farming and selling game, conflicts between players are rare and update frequency is fast, resulting in generally good user reviews.
While many pay-to-win elements exist, free players can still build impressive gardens.
Randomness and pay-to-win factors and the need to be logged in for hours to earn money affect evaluations negatively.
Because of popularity causing server overloads, ping spikes, and lag, Roblox users in other games suffer from instability.
Some players criticize the game for being mainly about planting seeds and waiting for good seeds, not understanding why it is so popular.

High ping, low FPS, and geographic server connection issues affect gameplay negatively, especially in PvP games where milliseconds matter.
Limits on concurrent players or reducing player counts to ease servers is impractical due to constant popularity and developer’s goal to break world records.
Repetitive, tedious grindy events
Despite popularity, new event updates often bring criticism.
Events requiring continuous effort, such as Luna (extended after backlash) and bee events (constant watering and honey gathering), cause player dissatisfaction.
Summer update criticized for forcing players to risk frost damage or cooperate in public servers for grind events, making event participation hard or unfair, with reused rewards and high barriers, causing severe discontent.

The huge player counts (20 million simultaneous) are inflated partly due to Roblox’s ease of creating alternate accounts.
