Episode 1
At Yufan Mountain’s Jingyun Sect, Li Qingyue, the lowest-ranking disciple, is guarding the mountain gate. Due to her poor spellcasting, she gets soaked in the rain. Her senior brother Zhang Suan sees this and kindly uses his magic to shelter her. Inside the sect, the sect leader, Ziyang Zhenren, angrily accuses his top disciple, Meng Chu, of secretly associating with a demonic girl and orders him to kneel in the rain as punishment.
Junior sister Lü Suguan pleads desperately for leniency. Suddenly, a demonic wind rises outside the gate. The so-called demonic girl, Xingman from the Yinlian Sect, knocks Li Qingyue and Zhang Suan aside and storms into the sect. Seeing Ziyang Zhenren pressuring her lover, Meng Chu, Xingman clashes with the Jingyun Sect members. In the chaos, Li Qingyue is injured by Ziyang Zhenren’s Cloud Sword and immediately falls unconscious. Arriving at the Ninth Heaven for the first time, Li Qingyue sees the maid Ningyan and the Thunder Hall steward Cangtu waiting at the Tianmu Peak Villa, but Bai Jiusi is nowhere to be found. From Ningyan, Li Qingyue learns that the Great Sage Xuanzun is at the Thunder Hall in the far south of the Ninth Heaven, while they are at the far north. Feeling lost and worried that missing their wedding night will cause discord, Li Qingyue boldly sets off for the Thunder Hall.
On the way, Li Qingyue is attacked by the Stone Brothers and, severely injured, faints. In the Thunder Hall, Bai Jiusi sits majestically as his top disciple, Long Yuan, reports that the human cultivator Xiao Jingshan, who once tried to destroy the Boundless Monument, is about to be released and may plot against it again.
Meanwhile, Li Qingyue wakes up disoriented and wanders into the main hall, where she accidentally interrupts Bai Jiusi’s meeting. Embarrassed, she tries to leave, but Bai Jiusi uses magic to draw her close and introduces her as their “shimu” (master’s wife), shocking everyone. However, Li Qingyue is actually happy about this and tries to go see Bai Jiusi, but is repeatedly blocked. She attempts to confess her feelings using methods from novels, causing a commotion in the Thunder Hall, and Bai Jiusi burns her novels. Li Qingyue is delighted to have met the current lord and tries to learn spells and make Bai Jiusi laugh, but Bai Jiusi suspects that she is Hua Ruyue.
Amidst conflict with Fan Ling’er, Li Qingyue falls off a cliff and encounters a white snake. At the critical moment, Bai Jiusi rescues her, but Li Qingyue is severely injured. Bai Jiusi becomes suspicious of Li Qingyue’s actions and investigates the incident. Ziyang tells Zhang Suan that the Solar Yang Fruit, which can cure rare ailments, will soon appear and encourages him to risk trying it. Bai Jiusi tells Li Qingyue that the person Hong Lian is waiting for is Li Mo, but Li Mo does not want to meet her. Li Qingyue hears seductive voices in her sleep and wakes up trapped in Hong Lian’s illusion. Hong Lian tries to summon Bai Jiusi to meet Li Mo, and Li Qingyue believes Bai Jiusi will come. Hong Lian says only the blood of someone who truly loves her can relieve her pain.
Hong Lian eases her pain with Li Mo’s blood, and Li Qingyue realizes that the petals are precious memories. Bai Jiusi burns the illusion, freeing the two, and Hong Lian is forced to reveal herself. Bai Jiusi orders Hong Lian to return to the Domain Law Ruins, but she escapes. Li Qingyue is called by Lady Sun to deal with her husband’s corpse and is poisoned. Gods and humans clash, and Li Qingyue and Bai Jiusi also fight… Li Qingyue uses the Fan Tian Seal to suppress Bai Jiusi and seals them both under the seal with a blood mark. As an old man, Meng Chi learns that his grandson, Meng Changqin, is about to be executed for bribery and embezzlement. Meng Changqin saves a mother and daughter and gives all his remaining money to a girl who was almost sold. Hua Ruyue sees that Meng Changqin is a righteous person and asks why he was accused. Meng Changqin explains that he opened the granary to save people during a famine. He parts ways with Hua Ruyue, fearing he will implicate his grandfather. Bai Jiusi continues to be attentive to Li Qingyue, biting thread to create intimate contact, and a subtle atmosphere forms between them. The peach tree at Lin Fan’s house strangely bears flowers and fruit early, and the couple gives peaches to Bai Jiusi and Li Qingyue. The neighbors see this as a good omen.
Lin Fan risks his life to save people and is buried in a sea of fire, and Shihua collapses in shock. Bai Jiusi is scolded by Li Qingyue and, recalling his past with Lin Fan and his wife, finally uses his spiritual power to save Shihua and her baby, but is severely injured himself.
