Good Boy Plot Summary

episode1

Five national athletes, each possessing world-class skills and ranked among the top three globally in their respective sports, once brought honor to their country. However, after retiring and being specially recruited as police officers, they are confronted by the harsh realities of life. Some are scolded by the police chief, others pawn their medals, and some are reduced to taking promotional photos, unable to fully utilize their talents.

Yoon Dong-joo is demoted to patrol officer after exposing a colleague’s corruption. He teams up with Go Man-sik to assist in apprehending a criminal known as Silver Axe, who is being pursued by another team. However, they repeatedly make mistakes and receive further criticism. Despite graduating from the police academy and aspiring to succeed as police officers, they struggle through difficult days, burdened by the expectations, prejudices, and disregard of those around them.

One day, while waiting in a car, Yoon Dong-joo is hit by an expensive vehicle. At the same time, he witnesses a customs officer being the victim of a hit-and-run. He also encounters Go Jong-gu, a former mentor who ruined the life of a close younger friend, intensifying their conflict. Yoon Dong-joo was once Go Jong-gu’s protégé and trained with him, but after Go Jong-gu’s betrayal for money, Dong-joo became embroiled in a doping scandal, leaving him a disgraced gold medalist.

After repeatedly failing to solve cases and being dismissed by Go Jong-gu, Yoon Dong-joo decides to prove his worth as a police officer by personally catching the hit-and-run suspect. He discovers suspicious circumstances in the customs officer’s case file, and Kim Jong-hyun also finds a connection to the Silver Axe case. Realizing that all these incidents are interconnected, Go Man-sik is taken aback.

The five athletes then each tackle the case in their own way:

  • Yoon Dong-joo, a boxing gold medalist, subdues criminals with his bare hands.
  • Ji Han-na, an air rifle gold medalist, fends off intruders at her home with her shooting skills.
  • Kim Jong-hyun, a sabre silver medalist, uses his fencing skills to confront criminals.
  • Go Man-sik, a wrestling bronze medalist, persuades an uncooperative team leader with his strength.
  • Shin Jae-hong, a discus bronze medalist, stops a hit-and-run vehicle with a manhole cover.

Even if the Olympic flame is extinguished and they are forgotten, the hearts of these five former national athletes-turned-police officers still burn passionately. Together, they overcome their own limitations and unite to catch the criminals.

Episode 2
