[Kdrama] Our Movie cast & Plot Summary & filming location 2025

“Our Movie,” affectionately dubbed “The Heartbeat of Cinema” by fans and critics alike, is a rare gem in the SBS lineup—a story that weaves the magic of filmmaking with the bittersweet beauty of life itself. At the heart of this enchanting tale is Lee Je-ha, the “Dreamweaver,” played by the ever-charismatic Namkoong Min.

Once hailed as a visionary director, Je-ha finds himself adrift in a sea of creative drought, haunted by the ghost of his debut success and the weight of his father’s legacy. Enter Lee Da-eum, the “Radiant Star,” portrayed by the luminous Jeon Yeo-been. Da-eum is a spirited aspiring actress whose zest for life is as infectious as it is fragile—she lives with a rare illness, making every day a precious gift and every dream a battle worth fighting.

When fate brings Je-ha and Da-eum together on a film set, their worlds collide in a whirlwind of emotion, laughter, and tears. Je-ha, the “Lonely Auteur,” is drawn to Da-eum’s unyielding optimism and raw talent, while Da-eum finds in Je-ha a kindred spirit who understands the pain of unfulfilled dreams. Their journey is not just about making a movie—it’s about rediscovering hope, healing old wounds, and learning to embrace life’s fleeting beauty.

Surrounding them is a constellation of unforgettable characters. Chae Seo-young, the “Veteran Virtuoso” (Lee Seol), is a seasoned actress whose wisdom and warmth guide Da-eum through the maze of fame and friendship. Boo Seung-won, the “Visionary Producer” (Seo Hyun-woo), is a man torn between artistic integrity and commercial success, whose clashes with Je-ha add layers of tension and camaraderie to the narrative.

Kdrama Our Movie Plot Summary

Episode 1

In June 2025, film director Lee Jeha sits alone in a dark studio. Once hailed as a rising star in Chungmuro after winning both Best Screenplay and Best Director for his debut film “Cleaning,” he has not released any work in the five years since his father’s sudden death. The weight of expectations, pressure from those around him, and complicated feelings toward his father’s iconic film “White Love” have stifled him. The world urges him to remake “White Love” once again. Jeha rejects the proposal, but by chance, discovers the original draft of “White Love” through his father’s colleague and original actress Kim Jin-yeo. The scent of old paper and his father’s handwriting stir up a storm of emotions.

Meanwhile, Lee Da-eum, who once dreamed of becoming an actress but was given a terminal diagnosis after five years of illness, heads straight to an audition as soon as she is discharged from the hospital. Driven by desperation and a sense that she may have no tomorrow, she auditions for the lead role of Gyuwon in “White Love.” The audition room is crowded with many hopefuls; Da-eum, gaunt, waits quietly in a corner, reminding herself of how much this single opportunity means.

Jeha enters the audition hall. Producer Boo Seung-won tells him, “This might be your last chance.” Jeha watches the auditions with apparent indifference, but when Da-eum’s turn comes, he fixes his gaze on her. Da-eum, hiding the fact that she doesn’t have much time left, recites Gyuwon’s lines. Her eyes and voice are filled with every emotion of the living. Jeha, initially indifferent, is gradually drawn into her performance. After the audition, Jeha calls Da-eum over and asks why she wants the role. Da-eum replies, “Because I want to feel alive one last time.” Jeha silently nods at her answer.

After the audition, Jeha remains alone in the theater, watching the final scene of his father’s film “White Love.” As the old black-and-white footage plays, he recalls his father’s voice and the time he has lost. At that moment, Da-eum quietly enters the theater. The two exchange a brief conversation, sharing their wounds and dreams. When Da-eum says, “For some, this film might be a dirty memory,” Jeha is prompted to reconsider the meaning of the film and his own scars.

As night deepens, Da-eum calls her mother on her way back to the hospital, caught between the anxiety that there may be no tomorrow and the relief of having survived another day. Jeha, in his studio, opens his father’s original draft again, reflecting on every sentence and pondering why he started making films and what kind of films he wants to create in the future.

At the end of the episode, Jeha calls Da-eum back to the audition room and asks her to deliver the line “Don’t die” with all her heart. Da-eum closes her eyes and pours her soul into the line. At that moment, Jeha realizes he has found the true protagonist he was searching for. Thus begins their fateful encounter.
