Mina Sue Choi, a beauty and intelligence icon who majored in Communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, is the reigning Miss Earth — a title that affirmed her global recognition. She first made her mark by being crowned 1st Runner-up (Sun) at Miss Korea 2021, and later went on to win Miss Earth 2022, one of the world’s Big Four beauty pageants alongside Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss International. Born on February 22, 1999, in Sydney, Australia, Mina Sue Choi is a South Korean model. She lived in Australia until the age of seven and then moved to Korea, where she attended school through fifth grade. She later studied in Canada for one year and in the United States for two years before returning to Korea to attend an international school. After a year of studying in China, she graduated from a Korean international school and enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, majoring in Communication.

In 2021, she was crowned Miss Korea Gyeonggi–Incheon (Jin), qualifying for the national Miss Korea finals, where she earned the Sun (1st Runner-up) title along with Kim Soo-jin. Representing Korea at Miss Earth 2022, held on November 29, 2022, at Okada Manila Hotel in Parañaque, Philippines, she won the crown — a first in Korean pageant history. Beyond her beauty, she stood out during the pageant by achieving first place in the Asia–Oceania Swimsuit Competition, first in the Air Group Beach Wear Competition, and first in the Air Group Long Gown Competition — earning global attention for her articulate and graceful English answers in the final round.

After Miss Earth, she expanded into modeling, variety shows, and acting. She appeared in Channel A’s reality show Penthouse: The Battle for Tenants (2022), played Sarah in TV Chosun’s DNA Lover (2024), and took on a supporting role as Yebin in the 2025 Netflix drama Melo Movie.

Before competing in Miss Korea, she weighed 72 kilograms. She once shared, “While living in the U.S., I gained weight from eating a lot of greasy food, and one day I realized I had reached 72 kilograms. I went on a strict diet and lost 15 kilograms in just two months. After successfully losing weight, my confidence skyrocketed, which motivated me to compete in Miss Korea.”

She also appeared on a broadcast where she revealed the interior of her home in Hannam-dong, Seoul. During the show, she said, “I’m majoring in Communication at the University of Illinois. I’m currently a senior with just one semester left. When I add up living expenses and tuition, I think it amounts to a little over 100 million won.”
