Ha-young Bio
Ha-young was born on August 11, 1993, in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, as the second daughter of a family of doctors spanning four generations. Her great-grandfather opened the country’s first Western medicine clinic in Hanyang (present-day Seoul) and treated Emperor Gojong in the late Joseon era. Her father runs a large plastic surgery hospital in Cheongdam-dong, her mother is a former nurse who worked in a university hospital’s plastic surgery ward, and her older sister is also a practicing physician, either in allergy/immunology or internal medicine.
After being cast in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, she even worked part-time at her father’s hospital to prepare, which helped her stand out for her nuanced portrayal of nurse Cheon Jang-mi.
She graduated from Seoul Yunjung Elementary School, then attended the art departments of Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, majoring in Western painting at Ewha Womans University’s College of Art and Design. After graduating, she moved to the U.S. to pursue graduate studies in fine art at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. While there, she became interested in film, and her life took a sudden turn.
While dreaming of becoming a writer or film director, she happened to take an acting class and became captivated, promptly taking a leave of absence and returning to Korea, where she joined Beasters Entertainment and became an actress. She debuted in the 2019 KBS drama Doctor Prisoner and steadily built her filmography in supporting roles across several dramas before earning acclaim in 2025 for her spirited nurse character Cheon Jang-mi in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.
A Doctor’s-Family Actress Whose Nurse Role Sparked Her Breakout
Starting with the role of Na Yi-hyeon in the 2019 KBS drama Doctor Prisoner, she went on to appear in Soul Mechanic, Love Is Annoying, but I Hate Being Lonely!, Private Lives, Royal Secret Agent, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Good Detective, and Doona!, before finally breaking out with The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call in 2025.
Playing Cheon Jang-mi, a five-year veteran trauma-team nurse who supports the leads Baek Kang-hyuk and Yang Jae-won, she gave a passionate performance fighting to keep the center running. The role earned her a nomination for Best New Actress – Television at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, putting her firmly on the public’s radar.

First Romantic Comedy: Our Sticky Love
After making a name for herself in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, Ha-young became a favorite of Netflix, appearing in Boyfriend on Demand, Bloodhounds, and Teach You a Lesson, before landing her first romance-lead role as Go Eun-sae in Our Sticky Love. She played a prosecutor with amnesia who ends up in a live-in romance with a boxing coach and self-proclaimed boyfriend, a former thug played by actor Jung Hae-in.

An All-Around Actress Who Cooks Well, Too
True to her painting background, her special talent is fine art, and she has said she’d like to try roles that draw on art or physical action someday. Her hobby is nail art, though she has to remove it before shoots, so she does it on her toenails instead. Her favorite food is freshwater snail soup, and she’s said she loves ramyeon enough to dream about eating it. On the variety show New Release Pyeonstaurant, she shared her own recipe for yakisoba ramyeon.
She has said that after watching actress Han So-hee’s action performance in My Name, she’d like to try the action and noir genres herself. She named Lee Byung-hun as an actor she’d like to work with, and cited Soul Mechanic as the project she feels most attached to among her work.
Her role model is actress Jeon Do-yeon, but she has said she received a great deal of help from actress Kim Hye-soo when she was a rookie, recalling how Kim invited her to her home to rehearse lines together and coached her on acting. She said she still remembers Kim Hye-soo’s words from that time — that they needed to succeed together, not just one of them.
