PGA golfer Jackson Suber is an Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) legend, having recorded 5 individual victories during his time at the University of Mississippi.
Ahead of his senior season in 2021-22, he became the first Ole Miss golfer to reach No. 1 in the Golfstat national rankings.
After failing to produce notable results following his professional debut, he has shown a surge in form after mental training, delivering a surprising performance at The Open.

Born on October 18, 1999 in Tampa, Florida, USA, he led his team to district and regional championship titles while at Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa Bay, and led them to the Florida 3A state championship in 2016. At the time, he recorded a stroke average of 71.0 and won the regional Player of the Year award, and in 2018 he was also named to the Walker Cup team.
He then enrolled at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where over 4 seasons from 2018 to 2022 he recorded 5 individual victories, and with a career stroke average of 71.16, ranks 3rd all-time in individual wins in Ole Miss history.
In the 2020-21 season, he won the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate and the LSU Invitational, and was named to the PING All-America Honorable Mention and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) First Team. As a senior in the 2021-22 season, he was named PING Second Team All-American, Golfweek Third Team All-American, and SEC First Team, winning 3 times during the season.
His individual win at the NCAA Division I Norman Regional was the first in Ole Miss history. Ahead of the spring 2022 season, he became the first Ole Miss golfer to reach No. 1 in the Golfstat national rankings. His senior-season scoring average was 69.77, the second-lowest in Ole Miss history behind the 69.57 set by Braden Thornberry in the 2016-17 season.
He finished 9th in the PGA Tour University Class of 2022, earning PGA Tour Canada membership and a berth in the second stage of 2022 Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament, and turned professional in June. That same year he competed on PGA Tour Canada, and made his PGA Tour debut as an amateur at the 2022 Valspar Championship.
In his first Korn Ferry Tour season in 2023, he finished the season ranked 37th in points, but after adjusting to the tour, in 2024 he finished 20th in the Korn Ferry Tour points ranking, earning full PGA Tour membership for the 2025 season. At the 2024 U.S. Open, he made his major championship debut as an alternate after Jon Rahm withdrew due to injury, made the cut, and finished tied for 73rd.
In his 2025 PGA Tour rookie season, he had 3 top-10 finishes, with a tie for 6th at the Sony Open in Hawaii as his best result. In the 2026 season, he shot 23-under at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson to finish solo 4th, his best individual PGA Tour finish, which also earned him his second U.S. Open berth.
In July 2026, he shot a 5-under 65 in the first round of the 154th Open Championship (Royal Birkdale Golf Club) to take the solo lead. Though ranked 115th in the world, he dramatically earned his Open Championship berth with a tie for 4th finish at the preceding RBC Canadian Open.
His driving distance is just over 300 yards, and his greens-in-regulation percentage ranks in the top 10 on tour. However, his fairways-hit percentage and average putts remain in the lower tier of the tour, making inconsistency a weakness. Thanks to preparation that included psychological counseling, he has recorded 3 top-10 finishes in two months and is on a formidable upward trend.
