Born in 1980, he stepped fully onto the path of acting when he made his debut as Travis in the 2007 musical “Footloose.” Since then, for nearly 20 years, he has taken on a variety of characters, moving between theater and musical stages.

Starting with his debut work “Footloose,” he built his career appearing successively in early productions including “Hard Rock Cafe,” “Nam Kyung-joo All that Musical,” “Musical Gala Concert,” and “Godspell,” and in 2008 and 2009 he appeared in the musical “Radio Star.”

In 2010, he stood on stage in the musical “Song of the Sun,” performed at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Small Theater, and from 2012 to 2013 he expanded his presence by taking on the role of Zoser in the large-scale original musical “Aida,” performed at D-Cube Link Art Center. In 2014, he took on the role of Yoo Je-seok in the musical “Oh My Darling,” performed at Ulsan Hyundai Arts Center, and in 2015 he took on the role of the man in the play “Marriage,” performed at Studio SK, expanding his range of activity into theater as well.

In 2016, he took on the role of Yi Sun-sin in the play “Waiting for a Hero,” performed at Busan KNN Theater, portraying a historical figure, and in 2017 he played the role of Grandfather in the play “Grandpa Boksun-i,” performed at One Pass Art Hall, and that same year he took on a dual role as Father and Father of Ban-seok in the play “Eden Beauty Salon,” performed at Wonder Space Semo Theater.

In 2018, he took on the role of Park Jung-yang in the play “Sound of a Miracle,” performed at Bongsan Cultural Center, and also stood on the stage of “Blackpool” at SM Art Hall. From 2018 to 2019, he took on the role of Bbang in the musical “Laundry,” performed for a long run at Dongyang Art Theater in Daehangno, achieving commercial success and appearing across multiple seasons, establishing it as a representative work in his filmography.

Off-stage, he first met actress Moon Geun-young, who would later become his wife, while appearing together in the tvN drama “Catch a Ghost” (2019). Ahn Seung-gyun also appeared in “Catch a Ghost,” and afterward the two joined forces, giving birth to the creative collective Bache.

In 2019, he also took on the role of a suspect in “Murder Mystery,” performed at the Seokyeong University Performing Arts Center. From 2021, he took on the role of Archibald in the original musical “Agatha,” appearing on the Interpark Uniplex stage, and he gave a passionate performance in the re-run held at Link Art Center Payco Hall from December 2023 to March 2024, making it another one of his representative works.

In “Agatha,” which is based on the motif of mystery novelist Agatha Christie’s disappearance, Archibald is a character based on Christie’s husband, a former Air Force captain, and with his stable acting ability he became an indispensable role. During the same period, he also took on the role of Lim Hyuk in the musical “Million Roses,” appearing on stages across the country in Uijeongbu, Gunpo, Hanam, Eumseong, Suwon, and other regions.

He joined as a member of the creative collective Bache, led by Moon Geun-young, who is now his wife, and continued free creative activities together with actors Ahn Seung-gyun and Hong Sa-bin. Bache set as its goal to break away from existing commercial frameworks and allow actors to tell the stories they themselves wanted to tell, and in 2022, when Moon Geun-young made her directorial debut, the collective presented three short films.

Among them, Jung Pyeong took the lead role in “Present Progressive,” a work that depicted the lingering attachment and afterimage of a man who, no matter how hard he tries, cannot easily escape the spotlight that shines on him. The screenplay and direction were done directly by Moon Geun-young, based on Jung Pyeong’s real story.

This work, which portrayed the struggles of a character who continues acting even amid economic pressure and the gaze of those around him, unable to escape a kind of fate even when trying to step away from the profession of acting on stage, was invited to the XL (Extra Large) section of the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2022, where it met with audiences.

And it was while shooting this work that the relationship between the two truly began.
